The European Commission has called the second round of Erasmus+ DiscoverEU, which allows 18-year-olds to travel around Europe for free by train to promote their sense of belonging to the European Union. The deadline opened on October 1 and, in this edition, they offer a total of 40,000 bonds, of which 3,979 are for Spain.
The objective of this initiative, as explained in the program itself, is “to travel and explore the diversity of Europe, learn about its cultural heritage and history, and connect with people from all over the continent.” In addition to the transport voucher, young people receive a DiscoverEU discount card to get discounts on accommodation, culture, sports, local transport or other services.
Regarding travel, if selected, you can travel for up to 7 days for a maximum of one month between March 1, 2027 and May 31, 2028. The program also indicates that, if traveling is complicated due to having a disability or a health problem, “you will receive assistance and support to be able to participate in this action.”
