In Spain When a worker loses his job involuntarily, he can initially access two types of benefits from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) that are the unemployment contributory, better known as unemployment and Contribution insufficiency subsidy. The latter, better known as the mini-part of the SEPE, is the help to which it is accessed when you do not have the right to unemployment, but there is a minimum of unemployment contributions.
The amount of unemployment subsidy is gradual as regulated by Royal Decree-Law 2/2024. As explained by the regulations, during the first six months, 95 % of the IPREm will be perceived (Public Income Indicator of Multiple Effects), which is equivalent to 570 euros. From the sixth month and until the year, the amount will be reduced to 90 % of the IPREM, that is, 540 euros. Finally, from the year and until its depletion, 80% of the IPREm will be charged, equivalent to 480 euros.
How many days you have to have quoted to collect the subsidy
To access the contribution insufficiency subsidy, it is necessary to have quoted a minimum of 90 days per unemployment. This entitles three months of subsidyregardless of whether they have family charges or not. If the price is 120 days, the subsidy will last four months, and if they have been quoted 150 daysthey will correspond Five months of subsidyalso without depending on the existence of family charges.
Instead, sI have family charges and have been quoted between 180 and 359 daysyou can access a subsidy with a Maximum duration of 21 months. If the price reaches 360 days or more, instead of the subsidy, it will be entitled to the contributory benefit for unemployment.
Minimum listed occupation period | Accreditation of family responsibilities | Maximum subsidy duration |
---|---|---|
90 days | No | 3 months |
120 days | No | 4 months |
150 days | No | 5 months |
180 days | Yeah | 21 months |
It must renew it every three months until you find employment or exhaust your maximum duration.
On the other hand, to access the unemployment subsidy, the SEPE takes into account unemployment contributions that are not the same as social security contributions. As explained by the SEPE, it is quoted by unemployment in all the work done as a worker or worker, provided that it is included in the general regime of Social Security, in the Special Agrarian System or in the Sea Workers Regime. In addition, it is also quoted by unemployment in training contracts.
Thus, for example, self -employed workers who are quoted under the reta would not be entitled to unemployment, since this regime does not quote for unemployment. In addition, other requirements must be met, the following being:
- Do not have the right to unemployment contributory.
- Being total unemployment or working part -time, provided that the sum of the working days does not reach a full day.
- Having quoted between 90 and 359 days, without having used these quotes to collect another benefit or subsidy previously. If work has been worked after the cause of the subsidy, the cessation must have been involuntary or in legal unemployment.
- Register as a job applicant and maintain registration during the perception of the subsidy.
- Sign the activity commitment.
- Do not exceed 75 % of the minimum interprofessional salary (SMI) in own income (850.5 euros/month) or accredit family responsibilities.
- Not being in any situation of incompatibility.
- Request the subsidy within six months after the causative fact.
Now, from the SEPE, they warn that in the case of complying with all the requirements to access the subsidy for over 52 years, it must be accessed and not to the subsidy due to contribution insufficiency. This is so, since it will be more advantageous and will also quote for the future retirement pension.
