In 2025 the pension plans They arrive with fiscal news and one of them is power redeem contributions older than 10 years. Just two weeks before the end of the year, this measure is being widely discussed, and the well-known economist Gonzalo Bernardos has also spoken out on the matter.
It is not the first time that a well-known economics professor from the University of Barcelona talks about pensions in Spain. He already did it in an interview with NoticiasTrabajo, in which he explained to us that the Spanish pension system is “very generous.”
Despite this, many Spaniards choose to contract a pension plan to ensure a better retirement pension, but Bernardos believes that this new opportunity to rescue the contributions will mean a large outflow of money from the banks.
Pension plan holders are not happy with the management of the banks
According to the latest data from the Association of collective investment institutions and pension funds (Inverco), in Spain there are more than 9 million open pension plans and many of them will have the possibility of recovering the contributions made as of January.
Through a publication through his social networks, Gonzalo Bernardos explains that Although the banks assure that in 2025 little money will come out related to these contributions, this will not be the case.
For the professor, the amount that users will withdraw from their pension plans next year will be very high. But why? The reason is none other than, as he explains, the poor management of banks.
As of January 1, 2025, those who have a pension plan will be able to redeem the accumulated capital that is at least 10 years old. The banks say that little money will come out, I think it will be a high amount (continue)https://t.co/Nz978KcwuA

Bernardos clarifies that “The majority of those who will withdraw the money will be people who have a small amount in the fund and who are dissatisfied with the remuneration generated,” and adds that the “Management of pension plans by banks is not good at all.”
