Health orders to withdraw this well-known brand of mussels from supermarkets due to the presence of listeria and asks that they not be consumed

New food alert in Spain. The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has warned of the presence of the bacteria ‘Listeria monocytogenes’ in a batch of cooked mussels from the Marvalmar brand. Health authorities recommend people who have this product in their homes to refrain from consuming it. As already happened with some brands of smoked salmon, the AESAN warns of the presence of listeria also in these products, a bacteria harmful to health.

According to the information provided by the AESANthe affected mussels have been sold mainly in supermarkets and food establishments distributed throughout the communities of Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León and the Community of Madrid. It is necessary to emphasize that the alert does not affect all the brand’s products, but rather it is a specific batch of cooked Chilean mussels, which are sold refrigerated and vacuum packed.

The Spanish Food Safety Agency has learned this thanks to the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI), following a notification sent in turn by the health authorities of the Community of Madrid. The information has already been communicated to the autonomous communities to verify that the affected products are removed from marketing channels.
