With the arrival of the month of September and the return of the holidays almost all pensioners wonder when pensions are charged in August 2025, according to their banking entity Caixabank, BBVA or Banco Santander, among others. Although the Social Security regulations are clear and establishes that the income must always be made to the expired month between days 1 and 4, there are many banking entities that decide to advance entry to before the end of the month with the aim of giving greater liquidity to pensioners and retirees.
This is possible thanks to what is known as the unique centralized account of the General Social Security Treasury with the banking entities. This mechanism allows banks and boxes to know several days in advance what their beneficiaries are and the amount of the pension or provision to be collected, so they can advance the payment, but always before the “value date” that we say is the maximum date to make the income. This is regulated in article 24 of Royal Decree 696/2018.

What day pensions are charged in August 2025
Social Security pays the pension of August 2025 between September 1 and 4, since as we have explained, it does so well. However, the vast majority of banking entities will advance the collection and make entry to their beneficiaries between May 22 and 27. When May 23 and 24 on the weekend it is possible that some entities delay payment, the next business day.

What to do if payment of the pension has not been received?
If, when arriving on September 4, the pension corresponding to August 2025 had not been received, the first thing to do is contact the bank to verify that there is no problem with the account or the usual operation of income. In the event that the bank confirms that everything is correct, the next step is to file a claim to social security to review the situation.
Among the most common reasons why the pension may not have been paid are a temporary suspension, the existence of incompatibilities, or even a change of bank account that has not been previously notified to the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).
Given any of these circumstances, it is best to go to a Social Security Care and Information Center (CAISS) or perform the management through the body’s electronic headquarters, where detailed information about the state of the file can be obtained and regularize the situation as soon as possible.
