Since last July 15, according to Published by the Ministry for Ecological Transition in the Official State Gazette (BOE) The price of a standard butane bottle of 12.5 kilos is 17.11 euros, amount to which the consumer must add the VAT and the Special Hydrocarbons Tax, a figure that will be maintained until next September.
And since 2023, according to the regulations implemented by the Government, the price of the bottle is checked every two months, and this review affects maximum sale prices of the liquefied petroleum gases packaged, with loads between 8 and 20 kilograms, as collected in the TED/211/2025 order.
In this way, the BOE will publish on September 15 the new price of the butane bottle, which will come into force, predictably, up to date its publication. After the review, the price that has been paid so far of 17.11 euros can rise, but, at most, as established in the regulations, it can be done by 5%, to say, to a maximum of approximately 17.96 euros, to which the aforementioned taxes will have to be added.
How the price of butane bottle is calculated
Casa two months, and almost always on the third Monday of the odd months, the Ministry for Ecological Transition publishes in the BOE the resolution of the General Directorate of Energy Policy and Mines, which published the new maximum sales prices, before taxes, of the commercial butane.
They establish the maximum final price before taxes in CTS. €/kg, which is fixed taking into account the cost of the raw material (propane and butane) in international markets, transportation, marketing and distribution expenses as well as the evolution of the Euro-Dollar exchange rate and the authorized margin for distributing companies.
Once this price is marked for a kilogram, to calculate the price of the standard bottle, this value must be multiplied by 12.5 that the weight of the same. To determine how much the final consumer will pay, it will add to said amount the special hydrocarbons tax, and apply the corresponding VAT, which in that case is 21%.
