How the minimum wage has risen in recent years

During recent years, the CEOE and Cepyme employers’ associations only supported the increase in the minimum interprofessional wage (SMI) in 2020, when it went from 900 to 950 euros per month. Since then, the increases have been negotiated exclusively between the Ministry of Labor and the CCOO and UGT unions. In 2024, the SMI increased by 5%, going from 1,080 euros per month to 1,134 euros in fourteen payments. In 2023, the increase was 8%, and there was also no consensus with employers for the 2022 and 2021 reviews.
