Óscar López, Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function of the Government of Spain, explained that the Executive has to Unlock the figures of the General State Budget (PGE) in order to enter the negotiation with the unions on the salary increase of the officials. A few days ago, López said he promised to talk to CCOO, UGT and CSIF unions for defend that all previous increases had been met. “We have to keep talking, more would be missing,” he said in an interview with Europa Press.
Now, in a Spanish television program (TVE) he has reaffirmed in the idea of dialogue but has insisted that “we have to unlock the figures of the budgets and then talk to the unions.” He explained in this space that the rise for public employees (which are still pending of 2025) has a lot to do with this uncertain scenario that opens with the PGE.
“This has always been agreed with the unions and we are going to agree.” On the other side, from CSIF, they consider that the fact that this salary increase of the officials with the PGE is “an unacceptable excuse” since “wages can be uploaded even if the extended accounts are.”
“They use us as hostages and currency”
The union representatives have stressed that “the government uses us as hostages and currency of change in its parliamentary negotiation. We demand more respect and negotiate our salaries as it is done every year with the Minimum Interprofessional Salary (SMI) and pensions. ”
CSIF asks the minister to feel urgently negotiated “otherwise, there will be pressure measures and mobilizations throughout Spain.”
To know the state of the negotiation of the PGE, we must remember that from the government it is working “with all the groups” because the will is that “new public accounts are presented,” he stressed in the interview.
The Minister of Public Function, however, is outside the negotiating team and has not wanted to reveal the date on which the so -called ‘expense roof’ and the stability path that is the first step in order to prepare the accounts will be approved.
