The average price of light for this Thursday, September 25, 2025, is 79.40 euros per megavatio hour (MW/h). If we compare it with the rate recorded on Wednesday, it represents a rise of 71.12%, that is, 33.00 euros less, since on that day the rate was in the 46.40 euros per MWh.

If we observe the evolution with respect to one year, the data of the Iberian energy market operator (OMIE) shows that today’s light is 22.17 euros more expensive, since then the price was 57.23 euros per MWH. Now, this price that affects consumers with regulated rate (PVPC) or indexed in the free market does not include tolls or taxes. This data is given by Electrica at the end of the day.

What time is the light cheaper today?

The lowest price of the day will be registered between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., at a cost of 20.10 euros/MWh. The stripes also highlight from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (22.74 euros/MWh) and from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (25.93 euros/MWh). Another interesting time to concentrate consumption is from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with 25.93 euros/MWh. These are the best stripes to take advantage of and reduce the electrical bill.

When is electricity more expensive?

The highest price of the day will take place between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when it will reach € 175.01/MWh. Very close are the stripes from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (€ 174.10/MWh) and from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (€ 128.80/MWh). Therefore, it is convenient to avoid the intensive use of electricity at home during the peak hours of the night.

The dynamic remains the same: the central hours of the day concentrate the cheapest prices, especially between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., where the light is below 26 euros/MWh. On the contrary, the afternoon-night stripes are the most expensive, highlighting especially between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when the € 174/MWh is exceeded. Therefore, it should be avoided by implementing the devices of greater electrical consumption in that time section, as reflected in the price of the hour by time.
