For its part, the average price per liter of gasoline has registered an increase of 0.27% compared to the previous week, climbing to 1.489 euros. Filling the diesel tank costs 80 euros
Filling an average 55-liter tank of diesel at a service station now costs around 80 euros, almost two euros more than at the same time last year, when the cost was 78.1 euros. In the case of gasoline vehicles, filling an average 55-liter tank currently costs 81.89 euros, 1.2 euros less than a year ago, when it exceeded 83.1 euros.
Despite the latest increases, the average price per liter of diesel still remains below the levels it was at before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022, when it was 1,479 euros per liter. Gasoline, for its part, also remains below the price of 1,591 euros per liter that it had at that time. Likewise, both fuels are still far from the maximums recorded during the summer of 2022, in July, when gasoline reached 2,141 euros and diesel reached 2.1 euros.
Continuing with the evolution, diesel has now been below the price of gasoline for 143 weeks. It thus remains in the usual situation prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which caused the price of diesel to be more expensive than that of gasoline continuously from August 2022 until mid-February 2023, when the dynamic was broken.
The price of fuel depends on multiple factors, such as its specific price (independent of that of oil), the evolution of crude oil, taxes, the cost of raw materials and logistics, and gross margins. Regarding the evolution in the price of crude oil, it must be taken into account that it is not transferred to the price of fuel immediately, but rather due to a temporary offset.
