The average price of electricity on Monday, March 9, 2026, shoots up to 197.53 euros/MWh for consumers with a regulated or indexed rate in the free market, according to data published by Red Eléctrica. With this increase, electricity is paid 46.01% more expensive, that is, about 62.24 euros more than on Sunday, March 8, when its price was 135.29 euros/MWh.

It is necessary to remember that the prices that appear here belong to the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (PVPC) and this means that they are different from those published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE), which reflect the price in the wholesale market and they are usually lower because it does not include concepts such as taxes and tolls.

When is electricity cheaper this Monday?

The lowest price for electricity will be from 03:00 to 04:00, with a cost of 115.48 euros/MWh. The next section in which electricity will have a lower cost will be between 04:00 and 05:00, with a price of €117.03/MWh.

When is electricity most expensive this Monday?

As for the maximum price of electricity, this occurs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a price of 359.63 euros/MWh. It is also advisable to avoid the late afternoon and evening periods. Following this period, another period in which it is also important to avoid turning on the appliances is between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., where the cost will be €352.60/MWh.
