The price of electricity today, Friday, October 17, 2025: the cheapest and most expensive hours within the PVPC

The average price of electricity for this Friday, October 17, 2025, drops slightly to 166.39 euros/MWh for consumers with a regulated or indexed rate in the free market, according to data published by Red Eléctrica. This decrease means that electricity is paid 0.41% cheaper than this Thursday, in which the price was 167.08 euros.

It must be taken into account that this amount refers to what is known as the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (PVPC), and differs from that published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE), which reflects the cost for the wholesale market.

The difference between the two is that the PVPC is usually a larger amount, since it includes additional concepts such as taxes and tolls.

The cheapest time for electricity is from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., when it drops to 85.03 euros. There are only two other sections below 100 euros and they are between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

When is electricity most expensive this Thursday?

The maximum peak of electricity reaches 274.88 euros from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Concentrated, as usual, the rest of the most expensive sections in the late afternoon and early evening hours.
