The average price of electricity for this Friday, March 6, 2026, stands at 156.90 euros/MWh for consumers with a regulated or indexed rate in the free market, according to data published by Red Eléctrica. Compared to Thursday, March 5, the cost drops 10.22%, which is 17.85 euros less, since the previous day the price reached 174.75 euros per megawatt hour.
Furthermore, the evolution of the price is also conditioned by the tension in international energy markets after the war in Iran, which has caused an increase in the price of gas and oil and puts upward pressure on the cost of electricity in Europe.
It must be taken into account that the prices that appear here belong to the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (PVPC). For this reason, they differ from those published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE), which reflect the price in the wholesale market and are usually lower as they do not include concepts such as taxes, charges or tolls of the electrical system.
