The price of electricity soars today, Tuesday, March 10, 2026: the cheapest and most expensive hours within the PVPC

The average price of electricity for this Tuesday, March 10, 2026, is €202.70/MWh for consumers with a regulated or indexed tariff contracted in the free market, according to data published by Red Eléctrica. Electricity continues at an unstoppable pace and already surpasses this barrier of 200 euros, presenting a new increase of 2.62% compared to Monday (an average increase of 5.17 euros).

We must not forget that this amount corresponds to the Voluntary Price for Small Consumers (PVPC), which is different from that published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE) at noon and that shows what the average price costs within the wholesale market.

To differentiate them, the PVPC, which affects consumers with a regulated or indexed rate, includes concepts such as access tolls, system charges or electrical system adjustment costs. Therefore, it is usually higher.

What time is electricity cheaper today, Tuesday, March 10?

The cheapest hour of electricity is from 03:00 to 04:00, at a price of 120.84 euros/MWh. Most of the cheapest slots occur in the middle of the morning, which makes it difficult to take advantage of them (unless you can program the appliances). When is electricity most expensive?

The maximum price of electricity takes place from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a price of 394.27 euros/MWh. What is relevant is that, on this day, 300 euros/MWh are exceeded in several bands and some are even dangerously close to 400 euros/MWh.
