The CPI (Consumer Price Index), that is, inflation, has increased its interannual rate in the month of October to 3.1%. This represents an increase of one tenth compared to the data for the month of september. An increase that is due to the fact that the price of electricity rises, as well as air and rail transport. This is the highest rate in the last 16 months.

With this rise of one tenth in advance of the tenth month of the year, the interannual CPI chains two months of increases. This organization has made it clear that the new increase is because the price of electricity shows a significant increase when the data for the same month of 2024 is taken into account. And, on the other hand, traveling also costs more money.

On the other hand, there is the price of gasoline that is falling according to Statistics data. The Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business has highlighted, as stated Europa Pressthat this increase is in line with that of the month of September (3%).

Raise the underlying one tenth

The underlying inflation rate, which does not include unprocessed food and energy products, has also increased by one tenth to 2.5%.

If these data are confirmed, when the INE publishes the final data on November 14, underlying inflation would reach its highest value since December 2024 when it was 2.6%.

Price increase by 0.7%

When the monthly terms are analyzed, that is, from October to September, it is found that the CPI has risen 0.7%, this being the largest monthly rise since last June when the same rise was recorded.

The IPCA (harmonized CPI) increases the rate for the month of October by two tenths, up to 3.2%, rising 0.5% in monthly terms, while the underlying IPCA is expected to be 2.6% for October, according to the INE.
