The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection advises patience when investing

In connection with World Consumer Day, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection appeals to Poles for patience and caution when investing.

March 15 is World Consumer Day and on this occasion, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection wants to promote the slogan “Are you investing? Give yourself time.” The aim of the new social campaign is to make Poles aware of prudent investing and remembering about the activities of fraudsters and scammers.

Małgorzata Cieloch, spokeswoman for the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, explained during the program “7-9 Morning of Catholic Radio” that many consumer problems today result from their shopping or investing activity on the Internet. However, there is no shortage of various suspicious offers on the Internet to increase savings, especially when it comes to investing small amounts.

This means that a famous person is supposed to authenticate a given investment, but his image promoting the offer is fake – processed by artificial intelligence.

– said Małgorzata Cieloch.

She also warned that fraudsters are trying to extort money online and are offering fake investments by using projects implemented by large State Treasury companies or programs implemented by the government or local government.

During the conversation, Małgorzata Cieloch also referred to the increase in cases against dishonest entrepreneurs that are brought to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. In her opinion, this is the result of the growing awareness of consumers in Poland, who are more likely to take advantage of privileges, know their rights, but are also aware of the obligations of the entrepreneur. Filing complaints has also been made easier for Poles by digitization and access to the Internet, as now all it takes is a click to express an opinion about the entrepreneur and pursue claims.
