The number of investments in PSI is growing

Last year, the number of new projects in the Polish Investment Zone increased by 20%. The share of small and medium-sized companies in these investments has also increased.

The Ministry of Development and Technology reported that in 2023, a total of 536 new investments were implemented in the Polish Investment Zone with a declared value of PLN 18.3 billion. As a result, 7.2 thousand jobs were created.

Last year’s result is better than the result of 2022, when 20% fewer projects were implemented in PSI. Importantly, the share of projects from the micro, small and medium-sized enterprise sector also increased – from 56% in 2022 to 67% in 2023. In addition, the share of the declared value of their investments increased – from 12% in 2022 to 19% last year.

The Ministry of Finance summarized that from the inauguration of the PSI in September 2018 to the end of December 2023, a total of 2,503 decisions on support for investments worth PLN 116.9 billion were issued, thanks to which 48,034 new jobs were created.

Tax relief for new investments encourages entrepreneurs to take investment risks and supports them in the first stages of company development. Statistics show that last year the number of small and medium-sized investments that benefit from tax exemption for new investments increased. These are mainly Polish companies. Supporting companies from the SME sector is extremely important for the development of our country’s economy, which is largely based on micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

– said Deputy Minister of Development Jacek Tomczak.

The largest SEZs in Poland in 2023 were: Katowice SEZ, Łódź SEZ and Pomeranian SEZ, which together issued 44% of all decisions on investment support. This refers to 235 decisions worth PLN 6.6 billion, which created 2,101 jobs.
