The Government of Extremadura confirms aid of up to 10,000 euros for SMEs to train their managers

The Government of Extremadura confirms aid of up to 10,000 euros for SMEs to train their managers

Good news for small and medium-sized companies in Extremadura that have the idea of improving the training of their management teams. The Government of Extremadura is preparing an extension of the aid intended to finance training programs for SME managers, increasing the maximum amount of 4,000 euros that already existed in these subsidies to 10,000 euros per training program and participant. Financial support for entrepreneurs and the self-employed that follows the line of others of a similar nature that have been approved in other communities, such as the aid to hire employees that the Basque Government is currently active in.

This is what he announced the Junta de Extremadura itself on its official portalwhere he explains that the modification of the regulatory bases has no other objective than to improve “the competitiveness and growth of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in Extremadura through the training of their management teams.” In addition to increasing the amount, the payment for registration expenses will also go from 40% to 60%.

Of course, at the moment it is a project to modify the regulatory bases. What comes after this is to carry out its processing by publishing it on the Board’s Transparency Portal and, subsequently, the corresponding call will have to be published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura (DOE).

Aid of up to 10,000 euros to pay for the training of managers

One of the main changes directly affects the amount that companies will be able to receive. The Board points out that the aid will finance the costs of enrollment in management training programs and that, with the new regulation, “coverage will increase from 40% to 60% and the maximum amount will go from 4,000 to 10,000 euros per training program and participating person.”

The objective is to make it easier for small businesses to access higher cost programs. According to the Extremaduran Administration, the increase seeks to promote access to “senior management programs taught by business schools and universities of recognized prestige”, since their tuition fees can become an economic barrier for SMEs.

The Board also considers that “the training of management teams constitutes a tool to improve business management, strengthen decision-making and promote the growth of Extremaduran companies.”

More small businesses will be able to access this aid

Another of the main novelties is that the minimum staff requirement will be relaxed. Currently ten workers are required, but with the change it will be enough to have five people employed.

The Administration explains that this modification seeks to adapt the aid “to the characteristics of the Extremaduran business fabric”, where there is a high presence of small companies and micro-SMEs. In this way, the aim is to facilitate “the participation of a greater number of companies and the access of their management teams to specialized training.”

To verify this requirement, the average workforce of employees hired in Extremadura during the 12 months prior to the application will be taken into account. If the company has been in business for less than a year, the highest value will be used between the average workforce since its registration with Social Security and the existing one when the application is submitted.

Up to 24 months to complete training

The time available to take the courses is also extended. The maximum execution period will go from 12 to 24 months, including possible extensions, and will begin counting the day after the concession resolution is notified.

With this, the Board intends to adapt the subsidies to longer-term training programs.

Applications must be processed electronically through the general access point of the Government of Extremadura, but we will have to wait for the corresponding call to be published in the DOE to know the specific submission deadline.
