Although prices in Poland have gone up in recent months, an increasing percentage of Poles are optimistic about the future when it comes to personal finances.
Almost half of Poles assume that their personal income will increase in the near future, according to the “Consumer Signals” study by consulting firm Deloitte. About one in three respondents expects a general improvement in their personal financial situation.
Exactly 48% of Poles expect an increase in personal income (4 percentage points more than in December 2023), while 38% of respondents expect an improvement in their personal situation (an increase of 1 percentage point). Still a lot, as many as two thirds of respondents expect an increase in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and 56% predict increases in the prices of clothing. When it comes to the prices of alcohol, tobacco and fuel, their increases are expected by 65% and 68% of respondents, respectively, while 72% predict an increase in the costs of household bills.
45% of respondents (2 percentage points less than a month earlier) believe that their financial situation is worse than in the previous year. Every third resident of Poland is still concerned about their ability to pay upcoming payments, and every second will not be able to bear an unexpected expense. The percentage of those predicting a further increase in the prices of the most frequently purchased products remains unchanged (76%). In turn, those declaring a lack of money at the end of the month constitute 38% of respondents, 3 percentage points more than in December 2023. Those concerned about the state of their savings constitute 39% of respondents, compared to 37% a month earlier.

Poles are not the only nation worried about future price increases. Of the 19 countries surveyed, the most concerned about further cost increases are those from South Africa (84%), Spain (82%) and France (82%). The least concerned about inflation are those from India (67%), Japan (63%) and Saudi Arabia (62%).
