With just a few days left until 2025 ends, experts venture to predict what will happen in the housing market next year. Among them the economist and real estate expert, Gonzalo Bernardos, who maintains that 2025 could be a key year for many Spaniards who buy homes “massively”.
This is what was explained in an interview with ‘Trioteca’, in which the professor from the University of Barcelona refers to the 2019 CIS survey that already indicated that more than 75% of young people wanted to buy a home, but it was in a rental situation due to the economic impossibility of acquiring a property.
Now, with more affordable mortgages, despite the increase in housing prices between 10% and 15%, Bernardos foresees that those under 40 years of age will begin to buy “massively.” Although the majority will make the leap into the real estate market with the purchase of their first home, the expert says that this will not be their ideal home (which must meet these requirements), however it will mark their entry into the housing system and in the future they will be able to agree to buy a better one
The lower-middle class will also be able to buy homes in 2025
Another benefited sector, according to Bernardos, will be lower-middle class, which until now “They had not been able to buy because the bank did not think it was an appropriate profile.”. But why?
Looking ahead to next year, the professor points out that these people will begin to have an attractive profile for banking entities, because their contracts will not be temporary, but indefinite, and they will have more seniority in their companies, meaning that their working and economic conditions will be more attractive.
On the other hand, something that will also benefit this group is thatIf banks want to increase their profits compared to 2024, they need to grant more mortgages.
