Social Security gives an aid of 1,000 euros to parents with children under 17 years of age if they meet this requirement

The Social Security offers financial aid of 1,000 euros in a single payment, intended for families with children born after 2007that is, they are under 17 years old. This benefit, managed by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, aims to financially help households with limited resources to meet the expenses associated with raising minors. Now, not all families can access this help, since it is necessary to meet a series of specific requirements.

Large families may benefit from this Social Security family aid, including those who acquire this condition after birth or adoption, single parent familiesas well as the fathers or mothers who have a disability equal to or greater than 65%. To be entitled to this, it is necessary that the sons or daughters have been born or have been adopted in Spain as of November 16, 2007. Furthermore, it is necessary in cases of adoption that this be recognized in Spain. Now, in cases of foster care, this help will not be available.

Requirements

In addition to being part of one of the aforementioned family groups, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Beneficiaries must have legal residence in Spain and be affiliated with Social Security.
  • Beneficiaries must not exceed income limits established by Social Security. These limits are determined based on the annual income of the family unit and vary depending on the number of children and family circumstances. If the parents live together and their combined income exceeds the limit, they will not be able to access help.
  • Beneficiaries must not be entitled to other benefits of the same nature within another public social protection regime.
  • It must be taken into account that the right to request this benefit expires five years from the day following the birth or adoption of the minor.
  • Minimum contribution period: With some exceptions, beneficiaries must prove a minimum contribution period. This period varies depending on the age of the parent at the time of the child’s birth or adoption. For example:
    • If the parent is over 26 years old, they must have contributed a minimum of 180 days in the last seven years or 360 days throughout their working life.
    • If the parent is between 21 and 25 years old, they will be required to have contributed at least 90 days in the last seven years or 180 days throughout their working life.
    • If the parent is under 21 years of age, there is no contribution requirement.

Amount and limits of family support

The amount of this benefit consists of a single payment of 1,000 euros per child. Therefore, if you have two children, the benefit will be 2,000 euros, and if there are three, it will be 3,000 euros, in which there is no limit on the amount per child. If the applicant’s income exceeds the established limit, but does not exceed the joint amount resulting from adding said limit plus the amount of the benefit, the difference between the income received and the established limit will be paid.

For example: a single parent family with two children has an income limit of 16,112.65 euros per year. If this family perceives 16,500 euros per yearyour income exceeds the limit in 387.35 euros. In this case, they would not receive the full 1,000 euros, but they would be paid the difference: 1,000 euros less 387.35 eurosthat is to say, 612.65 euros.

Below are the annual income limits based on the number of children:

  • 1 child: 14,011.00 euros.
  • 2 children: 16,112.65 euros.
  • 3 children: 18,214.30 euros.

  • 8 children: 28,722.55 euros.
  • 9 children: 30,824.20 euros.
  • 10 children: 32,925.85 euros.

For large families with an official title, the annual income limits are as follows:
