Holy Week says goodbye with sunshine in almost all of Spain, but the Easter ‘gift’ comes with an umbrella. After a Monday where thermometers have reached 30 degrees in the Cantabrian Sea and the south of the peninsula, Roberto Brasero warns that the anticipated summer has its hours numbered.
A storm that is descending over the Atlantic, described by the expert as a “minidana”, is going to plummet temperatures and cover the skies of half of Spain for the next few hours.

From beach to storm in 24 hours
The change will be overwhelming. If yesterday we enjoyed unusual temperatures on the northern and Mediterranean beaches, the first hours of this Tuesday it already began to go wrong in Galicia, where the first storms arrived. It is the warning that stability is broken from west to east, making way for a front that does not come alone: it arrives with cold air and a lot of atmospheric movement.
This Tuesday, instability will fully hit the west of the peninsula. Rains and storms will begin to gain ground, accompanied by strong gusts of wind. It is the beginning of an episode that will remind us that April always has a B side, especially when we come from such exaggerated thermal values.
Wednesday of mud and thermal collapse
The main course will arrive on Wednesday. According to Brasero, the storm will continue to rotate on our vertical and drag suspended dust. The result? What falls from the sky will not be clean water, but mud. This phenomenon will especially affect the south and center of the Peninsula, so it is recommended not to wash the car until the episode passes.
But the most striking thing will not be the color of the sky, but that of the thermometers. “What is going to fall, of course, will be the temperatures,” says the meteorologist. A sharp drop of up to 10 degrees is expected in just 48 hours in inland and southern areas. A winter “bite” that will return us to the reality of spring after the summer mirage of these days.
“Thank goodness it wasn’t during Easter”
“Thank goodness this didn’t happen during Holy Week,” says Brasero. And according to the meteorologist, the instability will be concentrated in the west, center and south, while in areas of the east and north the change will not be so drastic. Even so, the wind from the storms and the temperature drop will set the pace for a very busy post-holiday week.
The “minidana” will pass quickly, but will leave its mark in the form of mud and a much cooler environment. It’s time to take out the jacket again and be patient with time, which this year has decided to wait for the steps to be saved to start downloading.
