The average price of electricity in Spain for this Wednesday, August 13, 2025, will be € 101.20/MWh. Thus, and in full ‘heat wave’, the electric rate is triggered again 12.75 %, about € 11.50/MWh, if we compare it with the price recorded on Tuesday, set at € 89.70/MWh, according to data published by the Iberian energy market operator (OMIE).
If we look a year ago, the price is a bit lower, since that day known as ‘pool’ was at 106.37 euros, so we can say that now the rate is 5.00% cheaper. Now we must clarify that this is the price at which electricity is paid in Spain in the wholesale market (‘pool’), which is not the same as consumers with regulated rate (PVPC) or indexed in the free market, which is published at the last hour of the day by Red Electric.

The lowest light price on Wednesday will take place at noon, between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., with a price of 60.00 euros/MWh. This will be, therefore, the best time to concentrate the consumption of devices such as washing machines, dishwasher or plates, and thus reduce the amount of the electrical invoice.

On the other hand, the most expensive section of the day will be between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., when the price will reach 155.10 euros/MWh. Thus, this strip will be the worst time to make a high energy consumption, coinciding when sunlight disappears and, therefore, domestic consumption increases.
