The average price of electricity in Spain for this Monday, August 18, 2025, will be 96.68 euros/MWh (euros the megavatio hour). In this way, and after leaving behind the ‘heat wave’, the week begins with a new rebound in the electricity bill of 40.73%, about 27.98 euros if we compare it to the price recorded this Sunday, set at the € 68.70/MWh, according to the data published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE).
Compared to a year ago, we can say that now electricity is 73.88% more expensive, since that day known as ‘pool’ had a price of 55.60 euros. This increase will affect consumers with regulated rate (PVPC) or indexed within the free market, but taking into account that it is not a definitive price, since it does not have the corresponding tolls or taxes applied, since these will be published with the final price at the last minute of the day by Red Electric.

The cheapest time of light will take place in the afternoon, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., when the cost will be only 60.00 euros/MWh. After this, the following best hours will be between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a price 67.9 and 69 euros respectively. Thus, these will be the best to concentrate the consumption of appliances such as washing machines, dishwasher or plates and thus reduce the electrical invoice.

On the other hand, the most expensive section of the day will be between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when the price will reach 120.76 euros/MWh. This will be the worst time to make intensive energy use, since it coincides with the increase in domestic consumption after sunset.
