Price of electricity today, December 26, by hour: when is it cheapest and most expensive

The average price of electricity today, Thursday, December 26, 2024, will be 133.94 euros per megawatt hour (€/MWh)according to data published by the Iberian Energy Market Operator (OMIE). This is a new increase in electricity of 32.69% (+ 33 euros) compared to the rate registered this Wednesday, Christmas Day, when it stood at 100.94 euros/MWh.

Compared to last year, we will also be facing an increase, since on December 26, 2023, the rate stood at 93.46 euros per megawatt hour. In this case, the increase is 43.21% (+40.48 euros). That is why this Christmas we will have to be careful with consumption, especially on those days where we turn on the heating or the oven to prepare the typical holiday menus, since the bill may increase.

When is electricity cheaper today, Thursday?

The cheapest hour of electricity will take place 13 to 14 hoursat a price of 105.30 euros/MWh. It thus increases compared to this day by more than 30 euros. The following economic slots will also take place at noon, concentrating between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., at an average price of 109.19 euros.

When is electricity most expensive?

He maximum electricity price will occur from 9 to 10 p.m.when the 166.80 euros/MWh. It will be at the end of the hour, as is usually the case, when the most expensive hours for electricity take place. Specifically, between 6 and 10 p.m., at an average price of 160.72 euros.
