Podemos is going to bring to the Congress of Deputies a motion to eliminate the reducing coefficients that penalize the early retirement pension after having contributed for at least 40 years. The proposal, which is expected to be debated in the week of November 11, aims to force the PSOE to take a position once the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, has already ruled out the measure.

The motion is the result of an urgent question that Belarra addressed to Saiz in which she denounced the “discrimination” suffered by those who, despite having worked for more than 40 years, see their pension reduced for accessing retirement before retirement. ordinary age. As the purple formation has calculated, More than 900,000 people would be affected by this penalty.

The current rule establishes reducing coefficients that reduce the amount of the pension according to the months in advance of this retirement age. In the response he gave in parliament, Saiz defended that this system already has “equity mechanisms.” He recalled that RD 371/2021 approved in the last legislature, an economic supplement was introduced to compensate those who retired early between January 2002 and December 2021, when they accredited 45 years and 6 months of contributions or in the case of pensions less than 900 euros, at least 40 years.

And as the Minister of Social Security assured, there are 104,000 people who have already benefited from this supplement.

“Insufficient” measures that leave out people with long careers

For Podemos, the measures are not enough taking into account that workers who have completed long careers are left out. They assure that those who have contributed for 40 years or more cannot be punished and ask that the rule be changed so that they are allowed access to early retirement without cuts.
