He Minimum Vital Income (IMV) will increase by 9% as of January 1, 2025. In this way, the Council of Ministers has approved the increase in benefits and pensions for next year, in such a way that contributory contributions will increase by 2.8%. while the minimum pensions will increase by 6%, with the exception of minimum pensions with a dependent spouse and those for widows with family responsibilities, which will have a greater increase, reaching 9.1%. Both the Non-contributory pensions such as the Minimum Living Income will rise by 9%as stated by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.
According to Royal Decree-Law 2/2023, which approved the second pension reform, it was included that both non-contributory benefits and the Minimum Living Income should grow above inflation. This measure aims to reduce the risk of poverty in Spain, following the fifteenth recommendation of the Toledo Pact.
Until now, the Minimum Vital Income was a non-contributory benefit whose amounts ranged between 604.21 euros and 1,329 euros per month, depending on income and the members that make up the cohabitation unit.
It must be remembered that the amounts are not fixed, that is, to calculate the amount the Security will take the difference between the amount assigned by Social Security and the applicant’s income or cohabitation unit.
Amounts of the Minimum Vital Income for 2025
In 2025, the amount of the Minimum Living Income will be between 658.59 euros per month for an adult and 1,448.90 euros per month for family units with two adults and more than two minors, three adults and two or more minors, or configurations with more members.
- An adult: 658.59 euros per month, 7,903.07 euros per year.
- An adult and a minor: 733.85 euros per month, 10,274.08 euros per year.
- One adult and two minors: 903.21 euros per month, 12,644.96 euros per year.
- One adult and three minors: 1,251.33 euros per month, 15,015.97 euros per year.
- One adult and more than three minors: 1,448.90 euros per month, 17,386.85 euros per year.
- Two adults: 856.17 euros per month, 10,274.08 euros per year.
- Two adults and one minor: 903.21 euros per month, 12,644.96 euros per year.
- Two adults and two minors: 1,251.33 euros per month, 15,015.97 euros per year.
- Two adults and more than two minors: 1,448.90 euros per month, 17,386.85 euros per year.

When will the increase in the Minimum Living Income be collected?
Although the increase in the Minimum Living Income will become effective on January 1, 2025beneficiaries will not receive the increase until the end of the month. This is because, according to Social Security regulations, benefits are paid in arrears, between the first business day and the fourth calendar day of the following month. That is, the IMV with the increase should be paid at the end of the month or in the first days of February.
