Furthermore, the possibility of combining this work situation with adventures and trips through Southeast Asia and Oceania has led numerous young people to share their experience publicly to encourage others to carry this model of life.
This is what Miguel, a 25-year-old young man, has done, who has published, through a video on his TikTok account (@miguelonm999), the economic balance of his work experience in the mines of Australia, an increasingly recurring destination for those seeking temporary employment with high salaries outside of Spain.

According to his testimony, the young man worked for 6 months in the mines of Australia, where he worked shifts of two weeks in two weeks, that is, two weeks of work and two weeks of rest, “so of the 6 months, there are like three working and three of rest,” he points out.
In that period, Miguel claims that he managed to save 21,700 Australian dollars, to which he added 750 more as a housing deposit, which brings the total to 22,450 Australian dollars. “In exchange for euros, it is 12,600 euros in less than six months,” he explains, where he clarifies that the figure corresponds to the net amount after the usual day-to-day expenses.
His savings have allowed him to live a dream life
Beyond the amount, the young man emphasizes that his stay in Australia allowed him not only to accumulate savings, but also to enjoy a wide variety of experiences. “In those 6 months that I was working in the mines, I went on vacation to Fiji for a week,” he points out, highlighting that he also spent “two and a half weeks on vacation in Indonesia, where I was able to be in Nusa Penida, Gilly, Lombok, Komodo and even Bali,” adds the young man.
He also took a car tour of the Australian east coast on two occasions and carried out various adventure tourism activities, from diving in the Great Barrier Reef to light aircraft flights and surfing sessions with whales. “I have seen the most beautiful beach in the world, I have surfed with whales and I have dived with sharks,” he points out.
But, in addition to the different trips he has been able to take thanks to the good economy he enjoys in case he is in Australia, he adds that he has been able to buy “the latest GoPro on the market with accessories”, as well as “the Switch with several games”, “diving equipment” or “several surfboards”.
