Most manufacturing companies in Poland have implemented some solutions based on artificial intelligence or are in the process of implementing them.
As many as 61% of manufacturing companies in Poland have relied on artificial intelligence to some extent, according to the study “How Polish companies are implementing AI” conducted by EY. Despite this, the role of humans in manufacturing remains crucial.
EY’s study showed that 21% of medium and large manufacturing companies use AI within the organization, and 41% are currently implementing it. Only 9% of surveyed companies do not plan to take any action related to AI in the next two years. The biggest barrier to the development of AI in companies is concern for privacy and data management, as many as 20% of them are concerned about security (but 32% do not plan to increase the budget for cybersecurity).
In the context of the development of artificial intelligence, the manufacturing sector is in a special position, relying to a large extent on physical work on assembly lines. Although workers are increasingly supported by robots, the role of humans is still crucial. Therefore, it will be so important to build trust in innovation among employees, so that they are convinced that AI is the best assistant to humans. Companies that can manage to combine these two resources, i.e. people supported by artificial intelligence, will gain a market advantage.
– said Artur Miernik, EY Polska partner and leader of the People Consulting team.
51% of companies that have implemented or are in the process of implementing AI are new users of such solutions, using them for a maximum of 2 years. Another 39% of respondents have been using AI for 2 to 5 years, and only 7% of companies have been using AI for 5 to 10 years.
EY experts reminded that on October 18, 2024, the NIS2 directive will enter into force, which will impose the obligation to ensure compliance with cybersecurity regulations on a larger number of entities and will enable the imposition of penalties. Among the entities covered by the new regulations will be, among others, food producers.
