The average price of electricity in Spain for this Thursday, August 21, 2025, will be 53.89 euros/MWh (euros the megavatio hour). Thus and without having on top of the suffocating ‘heat wave’, the fourth day of the week begins with a drop of 20.99%, about 14.32 euros less, if we compare it with the price recorded on Wednesday, set at the € 68.21/MWh, according to data published by the Iberian energy market operator (OMIE).
If we compare it with the electric rate of a year ago, we can say that now the light is 31.84% cheaper. Specifically, about 25.17 euros, since that day known as ‘Pool’ had a price of 79.06 euros. This decrease will affect consumers with regulated rate (PVPC) or indexed in the free market, although it is not the final price, since the tolls and taxes that Red Electrico will publish will publish will be missing at the last minute of the day.

The cheapest time of light will take place in the afternoon, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., when the cost will be only 3.52 euros/MWh. After this, the following best hours are between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a price of 5.11 euros/MWh in both cases. Thus, these will be the best to concentrate the consumption of appliances such as washing machines, dishwasher or plates and lower the electricity bill.
