Mercadona is undoubtedly one of the favorite supermarket chains to work in Spain, both for salary and working conditions. However, it is not always common for the employees to publicly tell their experience. On this occasion, it has been the company itself that, through a video shared on Instagram, has given voice to a worker who explains how much he wins, his working conditions and the positive aspects of working in Juan Roig’s company.
“I thought that entering was very complicated, but I said ‘come, I try’ and here I am. I started charging more than 1,400 euros per month,” explains the worker and adds “you can collect more than 1,800”, influencing that “in the times they are running are great.”

You pay extra since the first year (and two from five)
One of the most valued aspects by the template is the extra payment system. “What surprised me most is that since the first year they give you an extra pay,” says the worker. In addition, he explains that if “you have more than five and both you and the company meet objectives, you fall two extras a year”, which repeats with joy “two a year” something that you consider “well deserved because we work hard.” According to the agreement, annual remuneration are divided into 12 monthly and three extraordinary payments, which can be prorated or charged apart as the case may be.

“Book two days a week and I have life”
Stability and the possibility of reconciling personal and professional life are key points for employees. “The best thing is that I can reconcile my family life with work.” “Book two days a week, I live near work and I have time to do what I feel like,” he says. According to article 15 Mercadona Agreement sets an ordinary day of 40 hours a week, distributed in five days of work and two resting rest, guaranteeing rotating breaks and even “long weekends” for part of the squad
To this are added other rights for conciliation such as day reductions due to children or family care, paid permits for medical procedures, days due to illness or accident of relatives, birth licenses or for urgent family reasons, and the possibility of requesting time adaptations to improve conciliation. These right are included in article 17, 20, 21 and 34.
The employee points out that in Mercadona has achieved “stability and good conditions”, something that “had always sought.” The new agreement establishes, in addition to the salary, a large battery of benefits: continuous training (minimum 20 hours per year), helps in temporal disability (the company complete up to 100% of the salary in labor casualties), health insurance and risk prevention, and specific measures for equality. Mercadona employees salary
According to the salary table of the current collective agreement, the base salary for supermarket employees depends on the workday and seniority in the company. These are salaries for this 2025:
- 1,686 euros gross per month (approximately 1,470 euros): for employees with less than 1 year old.
- 1,851 euros gross per month (approximately 1,546 euros): for employees 2 years old.
- 2,054 euros gross per month (approximately 1,566 euros): for employees with 3 years old.
- 2,280 euros gross per month (approximately 1,830 euros): for employees with more than 4 years old.
In the case of working part -time:
- 20 hours a week from Monday to Saturday: 842.95 euros gross per month.
- 15 weekly hours for weekends: 842.95 euros gross per month.
- 30 hours per week: from 1,264.5 euros to 1,710 euros monthly gross, depending on antiquity.
