It’s now official: the Community of Madrid opens the deadline for those over 65 to request rental aid of up to 900 euros

The Community of Madrid has opened the deadline to request housing rental aid aimed at people over 65 years of age, young people under 35 and families in vulnerable situations. On October 22, the Governing Council approved an investment of 21.7 million euros to finance the 2025 call, whose application period will end on December 15.

The aid will cover up to 50% of the rental amount, with a maximum of between 600 and 900 euros per month in the case of housing rental complete, and from 300 to 450 euros for rooms in shared apartments. The eligible period covers from January 1 to December 31.

Who can request rental aid from the Community of Madrid

According to reports from the website of the Community of Madridthe benefits of this aid must be “natural persons of legal age who are holders of a lease contract, or within the aid program for young people, those who are in a position to subscribe to it.”

It should be noted that the rental may be for both a complete home and a room, as long as it will be the habitual residenceof whoever falls within these categories:

  • Large families.
  • Single-parent families with family responsibilities.
  • Coexistence units with an accredited victim of gender violence.
  • Coexistence units with an accredited victim of terrorism.
  • Coexistence units that have a member with a disability.
  • Coexistence units with all unemployed members who have exhausted benefits.
  • Cohabitation units with all their members over 65 years of age.
  • Co-living units whose tenants are under 35 years of age at the time of application, including age 35. The remaining members of the cohabitation unit must also be under 35 years of age.

It must also be taken into account that this aid is aimed at people with limited economic resources, so their income from the cohabitation unit cannot exceed the following limits:

  • 3 times of the IPREM in general.
  • 4 times of the IPREM for large families of the general category and coexistence units with people with disabilities or victims of terrorism.
  • 5 times the IPREM for large families of special category and units living with people with disabilities with a recognized grade equal to or greater than 33%.
  • 0.50 times the IPREM for the following groups:
    • Large families.
    • Coexistence units formed by people who are victims of terrorism.
    • Cohabitation units with a member with a disability.
    • Cohabitation units with all members over 65 years of age
  • For the rest of the groups, the minimum income will be equal to or greater than 0.
