The most inconic department store in Spain, El Corte Inglés, has great news for Madrid: will open a new store in the city this Thursday. Of course, the new establishment will not have clothes or accessories, but electronics products, appliances and those related to the home. The new store will be located in Alcalá de Henares, in the space of the former Bricor.

It is a new outlet store, since it is not the first to assemble the company, being a growing trend framed in the business strategy that is following the English Court with the closure of some old stores and the opening of new ones. An outlet store of 9,000 square meters

The new outlet store specialized in household products, electronics and appliances of El Corte Inglés will have nothing more and nothing less than 9,000 square meters of surface. Its huge facade announces that in this store only household, electronics or appliances will be found.

The building, located in the former Bricor of the Madrid town of Alcalá de Henares, was the first establishment specialized in DIY that the company opened in 2006 as part of the diversification program through new businesses.

Why Bricor closed and opens an El Corte Inglés outlet

The 2008 economic crisis affected the great DIY warehouse of Alcalá de Henares, which was only open.

Now the Bricor building, located next to Hipercor, is about to reopen its doors, this time turned into the English Court Home Outlet.

Although from the company they have not announced a specific opening date, and although the El Corte Inglés website does not include its new center, local media indicate that the Home Outlet opens its doors this Thursday, September 18.

The ‘Alcalá today’ highlights that El Corte Inglés has not reported on the labor impact of the opening of the establishment and also so far there are no vacancies related to the center of Alcalá de Henares. “However, sector sources estimate that these types of formats usually generate dozens of direct jobs, to which the indirects linked to transport, logistics and auxiliary services should be added. The final magnitude will depend on the reception of the new concept in the city and throughout the Henares corridor,” says the article.
