The Nocowanie.pl service decided to check what the holiday plans of Poles going on holiday in the country look like. According to a survey conducted among a thousand tourists, 45.2% of us will go with the family, and 37.5% as a couple. The remaining 17.3% will go on holiday with a larger group of friends.
– We are talking about individual reservations here, which do not include organized children’s holidays in recreation centers or summer camps – emphasizes Agnieszka Rzeszutek, expert at Nocowanie.pl.
– Regardless of the configuration in which we choose to go on vacation, one thing is certain: two-week family vacations in the country are a thing of the past. The trend of short but more frequent trips continues – he presents the conclusions of the study.
More than half, or 54%, of those planning a family vacation will go for a week, which is similar to last year’s result. The group of families shortening their stay to 4 days has increased by 10%. Now, it is 31% of those traveling as a family. Only 5.7% of respondents from this group intend to book a two-week or longer stay in the country.
The answers from couples are slightly different. It is true that they choose weekend trips more often – this answer was given by as many as 29% of couples and only 9% of families – but they are also more likely to be able to afford two weeks or even more of vacation (8.5%).
– Reservations are short, but the good news for hosts is that 45% of families and 41% of couples are planning more than one vacation. Apart from that, everything indicates that we will spend a bit more, because fewer people expect to stay under PLN 100: 44% of couples and 39% of families. Last year, it was 49% and 44%, respectively – says Rzeszutek.
Twelve percent of surveyed families and 7.8 percent of couples can afford to spend more than PLN 300 per person per night. More than half of couples (52 percent) want to spend up to PLN 2,000 on accommodation, and another 31 percent intend to spend between PLN 2,000 and PLN 4,000. Due to the larger number of people, 42 percent of those traveling with their families want to fit into the latter range.
The respondents also answered the traditional holiday question: to the seaside or to the mountains? The Baltic Sea wins, chosen by as many as 64% of those travelling with children and 58% of those holidaying in pairs. Mountain hiking is planned by 30% of families and 28% of couples. Families are less likely than couples to choose Masuria. The Land of the Great Lakes is planned by 14% of those travelling in pairs.
After choosing a destination and planning your budget, it’s time to choose a specific facility that will best fit your idea of a successful vacation.
– As it results from the respondents’ answers, the decision to choose is influenced primarily by the final price without hidden additional fees, good price-quality ratio, reliable description of the facility, attractive promotions, parking, available amenities, as well as attractions on site and in the immediate vicinity, adapted to the needs of families or people spending their free time together – says Agnieszka Rzeszutek.
– The opinions of others are also very important. We carefully monitor posts and comments available on the Internet, paying attention to whether they seem credible – he emphasizes.
Family travellers are particularly careful when choosing. As many as 52% of them compare offers from more than ten properties before making the right choice. Another 27% look in detail at information about 4–10 properties, and 7% admit that they do not compare offers at all. People travelling in pairs spend slightly less time choosing – 40% check offers from 4–10 properties, and 12% do not analyse offers.
When compiling offers, respondents pay attention not only to prices and opinions, but also to photos, detailed descriptions of amenities and indications of leisure opportunities in the area.
– Comparing offers on your own can be time-consuming, so it is worth using the advanced search functions on our website, thanks to which users can filter accommodation offers according to their needs, regardless of whether the vacation is planned by a large family, a couple valuing comfort or a single person looking for active forms of relaxation. The opinions of other users available on our portal are also helpful – suggests Rzeszutek.
What discourages tourists from choosing a given place? Lack of information about the facility’s facilities, unsatisfactory condition of the facility itself and its immediate surroundings, and above all, lack of on-site parking.
