This woman was unexpectedly fired in 2018, when she was only 58 years old, and then it was difficult to find work, like so many other cases of people who are left without work at an advanced age and, despite their experience, they have trouble getting a new opportunity.
“All the jobs that offered me were too far from home, sometimes an hour from travel, and with the minimum wage; it was not an option. So I decided to change your profession.”
Thanks to his partner, who was already a driver of the Hiflow platform, he introduced himself into the cars transport world. Since then, Fabienne has made the wheel her work tool. His mission: “Transport vehicles from point A to point B,” he explains.
“What I like is freedom”
In 2024, he carried out nothing more and nothing less than 212 trips, and toured almost 39,000 kilometers through France. She can select her own platform trips. As microentrepreneurs, plan your trips, calculate your budgets and manage your displacements independently. “What I like is freedom: I choose my missions and my schedules,” he says.
Its car journeys vary between 200 and 400 kilometers per working day, to which you have to add the return trip, by train or sharing car. “It is possible to deliver abroad, Belgium, Spain or Italy, but I prefer to stay in France, especially in the great west,” explains the retiree.
As for its favorite cars models, Fabienne does not hide it: it has a weakness for high -end models: “I try to avoid the distribution of urban cars. Today, for example, I have conducted a beautiful BMW 3 series,” he has enthusiasm.
Before undertaking the trip, every mission requires thorough planning: organize the first leg, plan the return, evaluate transport costs to prepare a budget and anticipate unforeseen events. “The organization is key, especially when the client waits for his car at 11 in the morning,” he explains.
Complete its 1,900 euros pension with an extra of up to 1,500 euros
Your days can be long. The morning of our interview, for example, the delivery man took a train at 6 in the morning to collect a car in Châtelaudren, in the Côtes-D’Armor region, before taking it to Nantes and returning home at 5 in the afternoon on another train. He dedicates an average of twelve hours per week to his work and works four days a week. As for income, Fabienne’s pension amounts to 1,900 euros per month. In addition, the delivery service reports several hundred euros per month, with variations according to the period.
“Depending on the month, Hiflow allows me to win between 800 and 1500 euros, but you have to take into account expenses: gasoline, tolls and sometimes even hotels”
According to the platform, the average salary of its drivers is around 500 euros per month, net of expenses. These income must be declared, since the status of microenterprise implies tax obligations.
Thanks to this occupation, Fabienne can face all its expenses, also for leisure. “Thanks to this money, I can do things that I would not do otherwise, such as going on vacation to Croatia or Corsica,” he says. His numerous trips also allow him to combine work and personal life: “When I go to Mission to Paris, I take the opportunity to visit my children. This allows me to reconcile work and family without additional costs,” explains the distributor.
For those who want to start, register in Hiflow (or on similar platforms such as Driiveme and My Express Driver) is possible under certain conditions: be at least 21 years old, a valid driving license for two years, being autonomous and having a smartphone to follow the missions and communicate with the platform.
