Confirmed by Mercadona: announces the opening of a new store that will create “90 new indefinite jobs” in February

Mercadona A new supermarket will open on February 24 in Quinta do Lambert, in the Lumiar neighborhood in Lisbon, according to what the company itself has announced on its website. The establishment, located at Rua Agostinho Neto nº16, will be the chain’s second in the capital and will allow it to “reach the milestone of 70 stores in Portugal”, the only market in which it operates outside of Spain.

The new opening is part of the expansion strategy and company changes and reinforces its presence in the metropolitan area of ​​the capital, where Mercadona continues to expand its urban presence.

For the moment, Mercadona has not detailed the amount of the investment associated with the project, although it does highlight its impact “on local employment and the economic development of the area.”

Stable employment “from day one”

The launch of the new supermarket has meant the creation of “around 90 new, stable and quality jobs”, all of them with “indefinite contracts from day one”, as the company highlights in its statement. Mercadona insists that this approach is part of its labor model, based on employment stability and continuous training of the workforce.

According to the company, the opening “contributes to the creation of local employment” and maintains the same working conditions that apply in the rest of the countries in which it operates.

A supermarket designed for “comfortable” shopping

The new establishment will have a sales area of ​​nearly 1,900 square meters, with “wide aisles that facilitate a comfortable shopping experience.” The store will have the chain’s usual sections, such as Delicatessen, Fishmonger, Bakery and Pastry Shop, Perfumery, Butchery, Fruits and Vegetables, in addition to the “Ready to Eat” space, dedicated to prepared dishes.
