China does not stop surprise with their discoveries of oil fields. But it is not a coincidence. From Beijing An enormous amount of money is being invested to locate hydrocarbons in unsuspected places. Little by little, the needs of Asian citizens are being met, and with the arrival of the electric car they are trying to stop their dependence on black gold. Now, as confirmed by CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation), its recent discovery has broken all the molds.
It has been in the China Bonhai Sea where experts have discovered the oil field largest in the world located in a metamorphic rock. This type of stone is formed when the physiognomy (shape) or size of some of the existing rocks is modified. They have called him Bozhong 26-6 and it is marking figures never seen before. To begin with, once the area has been drilled, it has been proven that the reserves amount to more than 1.3 billion barrels.
The Chinese Government has already made known the importance of this discovery, highlighting on its website that it is the “largest oil field in the world located in the Bohai Sea.”
Now we have to continue exploring and seeing how to exploit it to improve and increase energy production. The first steps are already underway with the approval of the EIA (Environmental Impact Study).
An incredible oil field that produces 1.3 billion barrels
He Bozhong 26-6 field was found in 2022 But since the work is long and complicated, the first results of the studies are now becoming known. It is estimated that the proven oil reserves exceed 1.3 billion barrels of crude oil.
This has been confirmed by the vice president of the AGGEP (Association of Spanish Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists) in statements to theEconomist. According to this expert, a similar amount could supply Spain for 3 and a half years.
China has become one of the largest oil exporters in the world, reducing energy dependence and increasing income. Something that is now even closer thanks to this new discovery.
Where is the largest oil field in the world on rock
This oil field, considered the largest in the world on metamorphic rockis in the Bohai Sea. It is a small area located at the northern end of East China, in the Pacific Ocean, northeast of the Yellow Sea.
There are a total of 78,000 square kilometers and it is a route with enormous commercial importance, due to its proximity to Beijing. And now it is a great source of wealth for China because in addition to oil it is a source of natural gas.
The CNOOC states that it is one of the largest known deposits in this country, both inside and outside the sea. Now, important details have been given, such as the changes that this oil is causing in the rock.
Oil and natural gas are perfectly stored
One of the characteristics of this oil deposit is that it is perfectly distributed and stored in the pores of the metamorphic rock. At an estimated depth of 22 meters, work is being carried out continuously to confirm its importance for the Spanish economy.
In the pores there is both oil and sand and carbonates which at the moment have not undergone any changes, but could be affected by the continuous movements in the area. These metamorphic rocks have good potential to continue storing crude oil, so if they are extracted and returned to the seabed again, production could continue.
It should be noted that China is achieving record figures in oil and gas production, and that the Government is working to increase it. Right now, the annual production of the Asians is at 4.16 million barrels per day, according to the Chinese Government.
Now it is expected that in a short time this Bozhong 6-26 field will be pumping oil on a regular basis.
