The BLIK system, which is incredibly popular in Poland, will soon be available to consumers in other European Union countries.
Monika Król, Vice President of BLIK, announced her company’s foreign expansion plans. The payment service, popular in Poland, will soon be available in Slovakia and Romania, and then also in Spain, Italy, France and Germany.
Monika Król notes that solutions similar in function to BLIK are already in operation in these countries. However, the Polish service is unique in terms of the comprehensiveness of the solutions offered, because as a single system it provides solutions for online trade (e-commerce), stationary points of sale (via payment terminals) or transfers to a telephone number.
The Vice President of BLIK draws attention to the need to create a European payment solution that will be independent of American payment cards and services such as Apple Pay or Google Pay.
BLIK is a Polish mobile payment system launched in 2015. It belongs to the company Polski System Płatności, whose shareholders are the banks: Alior, Millennium, Santander, ING, mBank and PKO.
BLIK is extremely popular in Poland. Last year alone, it was used by almost 16 million people who made 1.8 billion transactions worth PLN 243 billion.
