A pensioner with more than 44 years contributing to Social Security has demanded urgent action from the Government due to the “discrimination” suffered by more than 900,000 older people in Spain regarding their pensions. “We are not a bargaining chip,” he points out, highlighting that the claims of retirees with long contributions careers continue to be the order of the day.
In a video published on YouTube by the ASJUBI40 associationArcadio Barrera asks the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, to get involved and implement these measures without the need for ordinary parliamentary processing. “If there is a fast track for social issues, that is where our solution has to be contemplated.”
The retiree frames his statements in the need for equity in the system. “Justice for those of us who have contributed for more than 40 years is one of those urgent issues.” And Barrera, like other associates, sees how you are suffering a cut in your pension even though the required minimum contribution period has passed.
Send a message to Elma Saiz: “she said that there are issues that cannot wait”
“We have recently heard her say that there is the possibility of approving social measures without them passing through the House.” So, the question is clear, why not focus on the retirements of seniors with long careers contributing to Social Security?
Because, furthermore, the Government has always stressed that there are matters that cannot wait for ordinary processing. “Justice for those of us who have contributed for more than 40 years is one of them, it is an urgent issue.”
The application of the reducing coefficients for long trading periods They are “discrimination” that needs to be corrected urgently.
“It is not a question of time, but of commitment”
The attitude of the Minister of Social Security should change since, for the retiree “it is not a question of time, but of commitment” and she has sent a message to the minister, “if you have the possibility of signing the end of this discrimination today, why don’t you do it?”
“If the Government has the capacity to act ex officio to protect social rights, we demand that it do so now with ASJUBI40,” he concluded.
“Retirees are not currency”
Arcadio Barrera translates in his video what many retirees with more than 40 years of contributions think. “We are not a currency, but citizens with rights,” and points out that the Government already recognized that this problem was “a pending issue” that, he assures, must be resolved immediately.
“Minister, stop looking the other way, if the way is the Decree, let it be to do justice without further waiting, without excuses. Now.”
