A retiree who still works as a professor made clear in an interview for the El Intermediate de la Sexta program that his pension was scarce for everything he had done, despite collecting the maximum of that time, 2,200 euros. “It could be higher for everything I have done,” said the professor, who explained that despite being retired it is still active. “Despite being retired, I still work. I am a professor, professor of psychiatry, and I also have a scholarship of the World Health Organization,” he explains.
The report of a last season of El Intermediate, in which Santi Villas toured the most wealthy and more humble streets, collected some amazing statements and that showed the big difference that exists between the pensions charged by the Spaniards. From 550 to 2,200 euros, the program of La Sexta interviewed pensioners with very different remuneration in which the difference was marked by the neighborhood where they lived.

“This is working to die,” a pastry chef from a labor neighborhood who had quoted 45 years and barely received 800 euros of pension told television. A huge difference with the first interviewee having quoted almost the same amount of years. Another woman said that she and her husband lived with a single income of 1,200 euros having worked as a “subway driver.”
Some residents of the humble neighborhood directly blamed their low pensions to the quoted time, clarifying that throughout their lives they had quoted below the really worked hours. “And it was good for me, well. If not, to the street,” one of them recalled. “And that happened to many,” he said.
In the Rico neighborhood there are also people with low pension
For his part, a former manager who also charged the maximum pension if he declared: “I am a pensioner and collection 2,200 euros gross. I was a manager in a company and Iotic from 18 to 65 years; it is the maximum, there is no more,” says the retiree. But not all cases are like yours.
In the wealthy neighborhood there were also retirees with low pensions, but in some cases it is not their only source of income. “I have 700 euros; if I had to live alone … I live from my husband’s pension in the United States, which are 5,600,” explained a woman. “Because we are older, we are sick and eat little, than if not …”, says an older woman, who charged 550 euros while taking care of her sick husband.
