Kiabi, a company owned by the Mulliez family group, had a turnover of more than 2.3 billion euros in 2024, and has expanded with 640 stores in 33 different countries. Although the retail sector is not going through its best moment due to the rise in the cost of living, Kiabi’s ‘low cost’ prices make it one of the favorite stores for fashion lovers.

If there is one thing that characterizes Kiabi, it is that it always has an open job pool. In Spain, for example, through Infojobs, it is looking for employees for several of its stores (in Irún, Esplugues de Llobregat or Leganés, among others) where they ask for clerks for customer service and collection, purchasing and store managers.

Its workers have very good working conditions, as explained by Lauriane Laroche, who is Director of Talent Acquisition and Management at Kiabi France: “70% of store managers can be promoted through internal promotion.” And although it is a fairly high percentage, it is expected to continue rising. “Hiring externally gives us the opportunity to gain a new perspective and develop teams,” he noted in the French media. Le Figaro.

In some cases, as he has said, external hiring is used so that “the diversity of the teams is enriched and a new perspective is provided.”

Employment “without studies or with a master’s degree”, that “is not relevant”

The Director of Talent Acquisition and Management has made it clear what the personnel selection process is like in the stores. “The level of education is not important, some of our directors do not have it and others have a master’s degree or university degrees. When the same skills appear, what makes the difference when hiring is personality, interpersonal skills and vision of the job.”

Precisely this internal promotion is achieved by carrying out specific training. “In about four or five years, a fashion consultant can become a store manager.” This is the case of Ouarda Ech – Chykry, who is the Director of Human Resources but began her professional career at Kiabi as an intern.

A manager earns between 35,000 and 45,000 euros as a fixed salary

Regarding salaries, Kiabi store managers in France earn between 35,000 and 45,000 euros gross per year as a fixed salary, which is equivalent to 2,275 and 2,925 euros net per month. To this we must add the variable linked to performance and participation in profits.

In larger establishments or better results, the total remuneration can reach 60,000 euros gross per year, that is, about 3,900 euros per month. Other brands in the sector such as Naf Naf have had to reduce staff or directly close stores.

Kiabi remains a very attractive option for people who are unemployed and looking for a job, since in 2023 it was the winner of the ‘Great Place to Work’ certification that recognizes the quality of the work environment and is committed to stability in a complicated context for fashion in France.
