A Spanish retiree who lives in Thailand, about why other retirees do not want to return to Spain: "even if they pay them they return to Spain"

A Spanish retiree who lives in Thailand tells how difficult it is for him and other Spaniards who live there the idea of returning to Spain, since in this country their pension gives them much more and barely have concerns. In an interview with Sergio Castillo published on his Tiktok channel (@Sergiocastillo.180), this man explains that his only daily concern is to keep a friend or go to the gym, little else. That is why most do not want to return.

“My dilemma every morning, well, I get up, what am I going to wear? Are I going to the gym? Where am I going to eat? I have a friend here, I call it. These are my daily concerns,” he explains with laughter. No invoices, nothing to adjust accounts for the pension to arrive: its routines revolve around leisure and tranquility.

But the most striking is not only his personal experience, but what he ensures about the many Spanish retirees he has known there: “Even if they pay them, they will return to Spain. They will not return, huh?” He says bluntly. According to account, the majority that proves that life does not want to return except for some punctual commitment: visit a child, see the family or solve any matter.

And even in those cases, the conclusion is usually the same. “Maybe someone will see each other, but at three weeks in Spain they already want to take the plane and become home,” he says.

The reason, according to him, is clear: in Thailand with an adjusted pension you live with luxuries that would be unthinkable in Spain. Cheap house, price thrown and a climate that allows socializing and enjoying outdoors all year. “Here the money spreads and the quality of life is another story,” explain many of those who have settled there.

In networks, the testimony has not gone unnoticed. There are those who take it as an inspiration and others as an evening criticism of the cost of life in Spain. What is clear is that more and more are those who look towards destinations like Thailand to retire without worries … and, as this protagonist says, once they get used to, there is no turning back.
