The average price of electricity in Spain for this Sunday, August 17, 2025, will be 68.70 euros/MWh (euros the megawatt hour). In this way, and after leaving behind the ‘heat wave’ the electric rate collapses 7.29%, about 5.40 euros if we compare it to the price recorded this Saturday, set at € 74.10/MWh, according to data published by the Iberian energy market operator (OMIE).
Compared to a year ago, we can say that now electricity is 22.13% cheaper, since that day known as ‘pool’ had a price of 88.23 euros. This drop will benefit consumers with regulated or indexed rate within the free market, but taking into account that it does not have the corresponding tolls or taxes applied, as these will be published with the final price at the last minute of the day by Red Electric.
