David Tomé is not the son of ranchers, his parents are dedicated to the tourism sector. So what he does with the countryside is simply vocational. At the age of 12 he bought his first goat, now he has more than 200 and eager to continue growing. He is a native of Torrox, a coastal town in Malaga, and calls himself the “youngest goatherd” in the province, as he has reported in different media.
He currently has thousands of followers on Tiktok (@david_tome) which is used to publicize the complicated situations that millions of people face every day. professionals from the agricultural and livestock sector in Spain. In an interview for ‘Las mornings de Fusión Radio’, he explained that his interest in the countryside began “early, I bought my first goat when I was barely 12 years old and now I am in the process of professionalizing my own livestock.”
But starting a business is hard and, as published The Nationis combining that dream with a job as a waiter. In The Debate He has also acknowledged that when he was little he liked to go out with the goats in the mountains, very far from the interests that other children his age might have.
Little by little he started a small farm “it is my always vocation, since I can remember” and that is what has led him to become a defender of the primary sector on social networks.
“My family tried to get the idea out of my head.”
As noted at the beginning and as he himself explained, he is not the son of ranchers. His family comes from tourism, a sector that has nothing to do with the countryside. Maybe that’s why, when he told them that he wanted to dedicate himself to livestock, the first thing they did was try to get it out of their heads. “They wanted to dissuade me from following that path because it is very hard, but the truth is that now they support me unconditionally.”
Their work day starts very early, when everyone is asleep. In the month of August, which is when it is hottest, you have to be especially careful with the schedules. He got up at five in the morning, at night, since that is when the animals should be milked.
“In addition to this, I have another job as a waiter because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to finance my project. In the end, I have about four or five hours of sleep left a day.”
Rural employment “requires attention 365 days a year”
Taking care of the animals and carrying out a project like yours requires you not to stop. Even though sometimes I’m tired. The animals don’t wait. “It is a job that requires attention 365 days a year and the weather does not matter, but for me it is not something that is a slave but rather my vocation.” “I like the countryside and we are like that, I would go on weekends, or in the afternoons to lend a hand with people from my family. They would give me something and I would save it,” he said in interviews.
In a report issued by Telecincoassured that the fact that he is now being the protagonist of the media does not mean that he has changed in the slightest. He remains focused on the idea of increasing production “it’s something that has never left my mind.”
And since he doesn’t like to stop, he already has a new project in mind. He wants to make his own products and start a cheese factory. “I will be able to market kilometer zero products without having to depend on intermediaries.”

Miguel Bernardeau, actor, on the housing crisis in Spain: “That young people cannot afford housing seems outrageous to me. We are giving up a basic right”
A museum and interactive workshops
Bringing his reality and that of thousands of ranchers closer to other citizens is something that he maintains as a goal for the coming months. To do this, once he has expanded his farm he plans to open it and allow it to be visited. “I would like a museum and interactive workshops so that they can come, try milking the goats and learn how to make their own cheese, I would like to always make a living from this because it is what I like the most.”
