Traveling around Europe for free is no longer just a dream for many young people. The European Union has launched a new edition of its DiscoverEU program, which will allow thousands of boys and girls to travel the continent by train at no cost. Without a doubt, a great opportunity to get to know other European countries and travel for those young people with fewer resources. In this way, it is no longer only older people who have advantages when traveling with Imserso programs.
The initiative, presented in the European Commission web portal and which is part of the Erasmus+ program, offers 40,000 free travel vouchers for 18-year-olds throughout the EU.

Applications are now open and are part of a European strategy to promote mobility, culture and European identity among young people.
This is what DiscoverEU free trips are like
Those selected will be able to travel by train for a maximum period of 30 days.
Specifically:
- They will be able to travel between July 2026 and September 2027
- They will choose their own routes through Europe
- They will have access to discounts on transportation, accommodation and culture
In addition, participants will receive support before the trip and will be able to attend meetings with other young Europeans.
Who can request these bonuses
The program is aimed at young people who meet a key condition: being 18 years old at the time of the call. In this edition, those born between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008 may participate, as long as they reside in a country of the European Union or in one of the States associated with the Erasmus+ program.
To get one of these passes, applicants will have to complete a questionnaire on the European Youth Portal with questions related to the EU.
Additional support for young people with fewer resources
The European Commission also wanted to guarantee that this program is accessible to everyone, including those young people with the most difficulties. Therefore, additional aid is contemplated for participants with disabilities or health problems, as well as extra financial support for those who come from more vulnerable socioeconomic backgrounds.

In some cases, accompanied travel is even allowed. In addition, there are specific measures to facilitate the participation of young people who live on islands, outermost regions or areas with less connectivity.
An initiative to promote mobility and get to know Europe better
Since its launch in 2018, DiscoverEU has allowed hundreds of thousands of young people to travel around Europe and learn about other cultures. The initiative seeks not only to promote sustainable mobility, especially through the train, but also to reinforce the feeling of belonging to the European Union. And there is no better way to enrich that feeling than by getting to know each country in Europe well.
Through this experience, participants can improve their language skills, expand their worldview and establish connections with other young people from different countries, thus contributing to a more connected and open generation.
