How to save electricity by using air conditioning

The use of air conditioning increases in summer and, with it, electricity consumption. To avoid an excessive increase in the bill, it is advisable to adopt efficient routines and consider replacing old equipment with lower consumption models.

One of the keys is to regulate the temperature well. The IDAE recommends placing the air conditioning between 24 and 26 degrees, since lowering it one degree more can increase energy consumption. Eco or Sleep modes also help, especially at night.

The insulation of the home is equally important. Keeping blinds drawn, closing curtains during the hottest hours, installing thermal insulators and cleaning the appliance’s filters improves efficiency and reduces the need to constantly cool the house.

Another way to save is to take advantage of hourly rates, programming the air conditioning in the cheapest time slots. For specific uses, low-consumption portable devices can be an alternative to air conditioning only the necessary areas.
