He Minimum Vital Income (IMV) It is a Social Security benefit that complements the low income of people or families who are in a situation of vulnerability or poverty. Both people who live alone and families or cohabitation units may collect it as long as they lack sufficient income for day-to-day living. But what about those who live with their parents?
People who are living with their parents but who are not integrated into the coexistence unit They may collect the IMV as long as they meet the other requirements. They must also demonstrate that they do not receive sufficient income to cover their minimum needs.
People aged 23 and over could be beneficiaries of the Minimum Living Income regardless of whether they are living with their parents. Social Security, on its page webexplains that people who are at least 23 years old will be able to collect the IMV “even if they share a home with a cohabitation unit but are not integrated into it.”
Before requesting it, it is important that they check whether they meet the following requirements: not be married, except in the event that they have begun the procedures to separate or divorce, that they are not a de facto couple or that they are not part of another cohabitation unit.
Requirements to collect the Minimum Vital Income
In addition to the three basic points mentioned above, there are other requirements that are essential to meet. Those who are between 23 and 29 years old are asked to prove legal and effective residence in Spain as well as having become independent at least two years before applying.
The latter does not apply to people who are victims of gender violence, or those who are processing separations or divorce. Those who have already turned 30 are required to live in a different house from their parents during the year prior to applying.
To prove this, you must present documentation proving that the address has been different from that of the parents, guardians or foster parents for the previous two years and a registration with Social Security for one year during that time.
Meet the income limit set by Social Security
Social Security makes it a condition to be able to collect the Minimum Living Income that the income limit be met. This figure is what shows whether or not vulnerability exists. To calculate it, the average monthly income and the computable income from the previous year are taken into account, which will have to be at least 10 euros lower than the monthly amount that the applicant would charge.
When it comes to a person, this limit is 733.6 euros, taking into account the latest increase promoted by the Government and published in the BOE.
How to know how much I will charge for IMV
To know what the Minimum Living Income will be charged, the money will depend on the difference between the guaranteed income and the set of incomes and incomes of the people who are going to request it.
For a single person it will be, at most, 733.60 euros per month, a figure that can increase by 22% when there is a disability of 65% or greater.
