Tensions in the Middle East put the stability of key oil supply routes in check, triggering the price of a barrel of Brent due to fear of a shortage. This increase in the international value of crude oil has a full impact on the refineries’ expenses, forcing them to transfer the increase to the wholesale market. A chain increase in prices that, inevitably, ends up hitting the pocket of the final consumer, who has become the last link that pays the bill for this geopolitical instability.
Despite this, this week both gasoline and diesel are falling again, recovering the downward path that is occurring in Spain due mainly to the reduction of VAT and hydrocarbon tax that the Government approved.
According to the latest data published by the European Union Petroleum Bulletinwith data from April 23, 2026, the average price of 95 gasoline in Spain drops to 1,517 euros per liter, compared to 1,552 euros from the previous weekthat is, it decreases by about 0.035 euros. In the case of diesel, the price also experienced a drop and stood at 1.808 euros per liter, below the 1.885 euros registered seven days ago, which is equivalent to about 0.077 euros less.
With this price, filling the car’s 55-liter tank with gasoline costs 83.43 euros, while if we have diesel, we will have to pay 99.42 euros.
Gas stations that sell a liter of gasoline for 1.28 euros
Knowing where the cheapest gas stations are located can make a difference. According to data from the Geoportal of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, the cheapest 95 gasoline on the peninsula is again in Utrera (Seville), at the Plenergy station, located on Calle Mirlo, 1, where it is sold at 1,289 euros per liter.
Also at this price, it can be found at the Utrera stations of ES Vistalegre (Calle Ecija-Jerez, 11), the Plenergy on Calle Almazara, 2, Petrouya (Carretera Utrera Sevilla Km. 1), and at Family Energy (Carretera C.Cial Almazara Plaza). Outside of Seville, the cheapest gasoline is found in Soria, at the Golmayo station (located in the Las Camaretas Shopping Center Area) at a price of 1,299 euros per liter.
Gas stations that sell a liter of diesel for XXX euros
The cheapest option to refuel with diesel this week is at the Almazara de Luque SCA station, located in Luque (Córdoba), on Abuchite Street, where it is sold at 1,391 euros per liter. At the same price, it is also sold at another station in the same chain in Luque (located in Glorieta Del Convento); in Figueres (Girona), at the Petrofigueres gas station; and at the Valle de la Serena station, located on Avenida de Roses, 4.
Behind it is the station of the Puerto de Pasajes Transport Cooperative, Pasai San Pedro (Gipuzkoa), located in the La Herrera Port Zone, at a price of 1,421 euros per liter.

Spain continues below the European average
Although filling the tank continues to be a significant expense for many families, and despite the slight drop registered in recent weeks, Spain continues to maintain lower prices than the European average. In the case of 95 gasoline, the liter costs on average 1,827 euros in the European Union and 1,891 euros in the eurozone, compared to the 1,517 euros that Spain sets.
Something similar happens with diesel. The average is 2,008 euros per liter in the European Union and 2,068 euros in the eurozone, while in Spain it remains at 1,808 euros.
This difference lies, above all, in the fact that Spain applies lower taxes and has lower distribution costs than the European average. Despite this, refueling is still an important financial effort for families, which makes searching and comparing prices between different gas stations a non-negotiable task to promote monthly savings.
