The taxes in Spain They are a focus of debate among experts and commentators, and in this context the trade unionist Afra Blanco starred in a heated moment charging against those who criticize them. “You are precisely criticizing taxes that feed you.”
With these words in the program La Sexta Xplica he wanted to emphasize that many of the services and tools that are used daily have their origin in public investment.
The trade unionist insisted that elements such as the internet, GPS or infrastructure do not arise spontaneously, but depend on the impulse of the State. In his opinion, there is a contradiction in those who question taxes while benefiting from them.
Taxes, at the center of the debate
Afra Blanco also rejected the idea that Spain suffers from excessive fiscal pressure. During the debate, he defended that the country is below the European average and warned that certain discourses about a supposed “fiscal hell” do not correspond to reality.
Along these lines, he stressed that the role of the State is key to economic development, since it is the one that invests in areas where, as he noted, private companies are not always willing to do so. From training in public universities to the creation of infrastructure, the union leader defended that taxes are “the starting point” of growth.
The dart to Feijóo in the middle of the debate
One of the most tense moments came when Afra Blanco raised the tone and asked a direct question in the middle of the discussion: “Who pays Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s salary? The taxes that you criticize.”
With this statement, the unionist wanted to show, according to her argument, that even political structures and public positions depend on the resources that come from tax collection.
His intervention generated immediate reactions both in the program and through social networks, where his intervention has already accumulated hundreds of comments.
While some users support his defense of the tax system, others criticize his position and question the management of public resources.
