Silva opens up on future amid Barca interest but Man City have no intention to sell

Bernardo Silva has admitted he is ‘happy’ at Man City, but has left the door open on his future.

The 28-year-old has been the subject of transfer interest from Barcelona over the last two summers.

Man City have no intention of selling Silva

The Catalan club continue to be linked with a move for the Portugal international, despite their well-documented financial difficulties.

He joined City from Monaco in 2017 and has gone on to be an integral figure under Pep Guardiola.

Silva’s 48 goals and 50 assists in 251 games has helped the club win four Premier Leagues, four League Cups and the FA Cup.

He has opened up on his future in an interview with ESPN, where he admitted he was not sure what would happen.

“I’ve always said that I’m happy here, but I have no idea what’s going to happen,” Silva said. “We’ll see, honestly. My relationship with the club is very honest. I’ve been open with them and they know what I want.

“If I stay, I’m very happy, and I will always respect this club and give all my best. If not, it’s football and we’ll just see what happens.”

Reports in the Spanish press that Barcelona have agreed a deal for Silva are wide of the mark.

talkSPORT’s Alex Crook said: “Not if Manchester City have their way. I have to say, the Catalan press have been a bit naughty at times this summer in trying to help Barcelona unsettle targets.

“We hear rumours of a £48million offer being agreed, that has been laughed out of hand by my contacts at Man City.

“Their stance has always been they want him to stay. It would take double, maybe nearer the £80m mark for them to consider selling Bernardo Silva.

“Not sure where the player’s head is at, as this time last year he was looking for a move, then had an excellent season.
